TALE OF TWO DEAD GUYS

When you work in news... you cover death...

Last month we extensively covered the death of a Eugene Police officer who was killed in the line of duty while attempting to pull over a speeding car. He pulled up along side the car, the driver pulled a gun, and bang... his life was over.

This shrine built around his patrol bike has been sitting outside of EPD for weeks now.

A public memorial was attended by hundreds, and a region wide motorcade was observed by thousands, to honor his life and service in this community.

Meanwhile... across town... some weeks later... a man with no name was walking through an alley behind a gas station, when boom, he dropped dead.

How he died will likely never be known by more than the lone corner who performs his autopsy, and files away his paperwork. There will likely be no memorial... there will certainly be no motorcade.

Two men... two deaths... two very different lives... and different stories...

HOME BREW

I learned how to make home brewed beer a few weeks ago. The beer was finally done sitting, and ready for guzzling this weekend. And... it was... well... strong, hoppy, very delicious...

My documentary short "Against the Fence" was the warm-up act earlier in the day. I hear it was well received... hopefully it will headline next year when it's officially submitted to the festival.

WHAT HAPPENED?!

So... here's the thing... my point and shoot camera broke. I tried to keep up with my DSLR, but it's just not conducive to my "pack light" lifestyle. So... just got my cam back and am planning on a June 1st reboot. Meantime... I finally broke in the HD video function on my bad ass point and shoot camera when I got it back from the shop last Saturday. See the results below... just a quick test shoot to see how it looked online. Thanks for noticing I dropped the ball, peeps.
