FAUX SNOW

All week... weather peeps have been boasting about this epic winter storm that was going to rip Oregon apart. Everyone was worried... everyone dug in... But this morning... it was a mild dusting at most...

The pavement wasn't remotely slick... I even tried to peel out... no such luck. Still... being dumb Oregon... every school was shut down for the day... because?? The white was too blinding to bus drivers??

I don't get it.

D-1 DAYCARE

I shot a story on the OSU wrestling program today...
Outside of the room where they practice, there was a shoe rack.

It looks like something you'd see at a kindergarten, or day care facility. But instead...it's Division 1, Pac 10 wrestlers... dudes that could rip your head off... that take their shoes off and place them in this nicely organized rack... before entering the practice facility.

I don't get it.

BIKE BRIDGE

I'm pretty sure every dork photog in town has taken this exact same photo of the I-5 bike bridge. I'm pretty sure I shot a video version of it for a story once.

I reminds me of a Fight Club line... "everything is a copy of a copy of a copy..."

BTW... anything you need to know about life can be learned from the movie Fight Club.

POLE PIGEONS

These haggard looking birds live somewhere near my house. They spend their time chillin' on this pole that looms over my garden. I've never seen any of them swoop down into my garden...if they did... they could meet their end at the hands of my killer dog. Since owning him he's killed two possums, two giant gray squirrels, and two birds. I'd stay on the pole.

Pitchers and catchers reported this week. I've been excited for the return of baseball season since the Giants clinched the world series back on November 1st.

I took this pic back in 2008, when most of Giants nation knew our boys were on the rise... but never would have expected a world championship only two years later. Now for the first time in my life... the Giants are defending a world title... feels good. Let the 2011 season begin!

I got my first roll of Holga film back today. I was excited by a couple photos... very disappointed with many others... but generally content based on how much I learned from a single roll of film. Roll two should produce a much better product... or maybe roll three...

I took a few different snaps today and hated all of them... so here's something from the archives...

I snapped this back in March of '06. I had just bought my Canon DSLR... and was roaming around town on a day off taking pics of all sorts of things. I found this hoops game under a bridge near a not-very-nice part of town... stopped and took pics for about 10 minutes. The kid who's dunking while simultaneously losing his shorts told me... if the photos made a million dollars, I better give him some of the money. Yeah... right.
